Howard King, MD, MPH


Dr. Howard S. King received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed pediatric residency programs at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston City Hospital, followed by a fellowship in the emotional problems of children at Children's Medical Center in Boston. He returned to Harvard University to complete a master's degree in public health.

A board certified pediatrician on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, Dr. King serves also on the committee for continuing education at the Harvard School of Public Health. He is on the active staff of Children's Medical Center and Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He served as chairman of the subcommittee for mental health of the Massachusetts chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. King organized, in 1998, a program on childhood and family depression at the annual meeting of that chapter, where he presented a paper on "How to Make Room for Children's Emotional Health in Your Practice." In October 2000, he organized a physician seminar on "Approaching Mental Health Issues in Everyday Practice." Dr. King also consults to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts on planning educational programs for physicians that cover a broad range of issues related to strengthening the partnership between doctors and their patients.

Dr. King is an associate medical director of the Medical Delivery Organization for Newton-Wellesley Hospital, an affiliate of the Partners HealthCare System. He is currently a member of the Aetna-US Health Care quality of health committee.

Dr. King was selected by patients of the Tufts Associated Health Plan, in 1999, 2000 and 2001, as one of its Top Twenty Primary Care Physicians.
