In October 2004, a group of 15 pediatricians and nurse practitioners began to meet once a month, for a one-year period, to see if they could increase their competence in providing psychosocial assessments of children and families, in response to parental concerns, within their own pediatric practice. This article briefly describes the lessons we learned through this pilot project.
